There is just something so fluidly beautiful and captivating around the unique art of Marbling. The abstract flows of lines and colours just flows us to an intriguing and surprise array of patterns leaving us to appreciate the art in our own way - without attachments and logic but; flow.
Just like how this art pulls us into its unique beauty, this also planted the seed in working alongside Jaipur-based paper company and design studio, Craftboat, to explore new ways of using and appreciating this art's technique. With sustainability in mind, the team at Craftboat brought fabric remnants from garment manufacturing industries and convert them into handmade paper.
The sheet of paper is then placed on top of a swirled paint and the pattern is transferred onto the paper. Through several centuries, people have applied marbled materials to surface as its appeal is that each print is a unique monotype. No two pieces will be alike and every artisan brings their own 'touch' to the patterns giving every item its own individualised identity. Staying true to Living DNA's sustainability ethos, the materials and methods used for crafting the pieces have a positive impact to the community and environment - hence the natural partnership of Living DNA and Craftboat.
